If you find yourself surpassing your cellphone minutes on a monthly basis—or you just like to be careful—free web service OverMyMinutes sends customized email and SMS reminders to help you keep track of your usage and avoid huge phone bills.
There's no shame in being forgetful, and most of us can't be bothered to check our minutes usage all the time. OverMyMinutes saves you the trouble by sending you email or SMS reminders every time you reach a certain number of minutes, not unlike low balance alerts that have become popular with online banking. You can also opt to have an optional daily minutes usage report sent your way.
If you're an iPhone user, you can also grab their free iPhone app, which lets you also monitor your text messages (although if you find yourself low on text messages that often, we'd really recommend getting a Google Voice account and sending SMS messages for free via their new webapp). Note: OverMyMinutes requires that you have an online account with your service provider to use.
